Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It occasionally shoots small puffs of smoke from its nose, like it’s trying to breathe fire.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Hollen's egg was laid around Christmas, and he grew up alongside Eien.  The two of them were so similar that he originally thought that they were the same breed, and he dreamed of growing up to be a spirit of Christmas just like her.  However, the other dragons in his cave complex gently corrected him, explaining that he would grow up to be a big, strong red dragon instead.  Hollen rejected this and begged the spirits to prevent him from aging, wanting to preserve his similarity with Eien as long as possible, and perhaps hoping that, someday, his wish to be a Christmas dragon would be granted.  Eien and Hollen are never separated; regardless of their differing breeds, they will be big sister and little brother forever.
