Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s brightly colored and chirps quite often.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Being in a perpetual state of hatchling-hood, RosePrincess spends her days flitting about the cave. She can only hover about a little bit off the ground with her tiny wings, but hovering a foot off the ground is all she needs to pounce on bugs and other dragons. She loves to irritate her older cavemates by jumping onto them when they least expect it.
