Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s very festively colored.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

From the shell this dragon came,

Without a lineage or a name.

No one knew what would become,

Of a little one without a mum.

It begged, it squealed,

For some affection, for some appeal.

It watched from afar, so cold and alone,

As the adults were fussing with their own.

Too busy were they to give a care,

Their young gave them no time to spare.

And so this hatchling, so cold and alone,

Crawled around and howled and moaned.

Where was the love it so desperately wanted,

Every moment it was haunted,

By the thought that it would never grow,

Strong, big, have a healthy shining glow.

And that is all that became of this one,

Seeking its father, seeking its mum.

Never to age until it found,

Parents to keep it safe and sound.
