Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Little Tabby was named for its cat-like behavior. It is very easy to care for, much like a domestic cat. Tabby prefers to eat berries and nuts to meat, mostly because it is too small to hunt for itself, and it will not take any of the other dragon's kills, even when some of it is offered. Tabby seems enamored by diamonds, and even at such a young age it has begun showing hoarding behavior.
