Spotted Greenwings are relatively small nocturnal dragons. Easily recognizable by the fleshy appendages growing off of their head and rump, they are most commonly seen in forests at night, leaping and soaring from tree to tree. While generally social, spotted greenwings are very quiet and rarely make any sort of vocalization. Their bodies are unusually warm to the touch, though they are unable to breathe fire. Greenwings are voracious feeders and will consume nearly any living thing that they can fit in their mouths.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

As intriguingly secretive as Alex Mercer is, no one dares to pry into his past or intrude in his home. Though he is less sociable, he is even more voracious and has little qualms with eating other dragons, a fact that makes others keep their distance. His body, sinewy as it is, still belies his immense strength and prowess at fighting, and his combination of skill and behavior prompted the rumor that if he wanted someone to disappear, they would disappear without a trace. He cares for no one except his sister, Dana, and lives in his own cave on the fringes of the clan lands.

It was Shadowdrake who asked that Alex be recorded as one of the clan dragons, despite the fact that he most likely couldn't care less about such things. Her interest is a tad disturbing to the others, but no one is willing to confront either of them on such things. As it stands, the Mercer siblings will be a part of the Ophidian clan for as long as they wish.
