Dorsal Dragons are so named because they have large fins along their backs that can be raised and lowered at will. They use these fins to regulate body temperature; they raise them to cool off when they become overheated. The bright colors on the fins double as a means of attracting mates.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Wonton the Dragon is Dangershy the Dragon's best friend. They are never seen apart, as the other dragon usually leave them alone because they think they are 'weird.' Neither of them mind this, since they have each other's company. Wonton the Dragon likes to make sandcastles and such, and sometimes attempts to read dangershy's scroll, but with little success. She also likes to lay in the sun by the water, soaking up the warmth. Every day, out of habit, she goes down in the forest with Dangershy the Dragon to see if they can find anything new in there. Sometimes, if they find fruits, they bring a few back to dangershy then go back to the beach. Wonton the Dragon is also fiercely protective of Dangershy the Dragon, and will do almost anything for her.
