It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Hiramyae's name means "She Who is Purple". Not very poetic, but accurate enough.

The Purple dragons' fertility specialty is well known, but the origin of magic is not. Each purple dragon has their own secret formula, and so does Hiramyae. Her secret was let out of the bag when she was caught breathing a shimmery powder into S'aellya's leg of ham on the night of her mating flight. Under the pressure of Mae's infamous tickling skills, she finally divulged her secrets. Wings fluttering and tail lashing, she gasped out, giggling between breaths as Mae steadily twitched a claw between Hiramyae's neck scales: a potent gel was secreted from the tips of her whip-like antennae and would crystallize every 14 days. She would take the little nub of magic, grind it to dust and mix it with cocoa powder and nectar from Hyacinth flowers.

Hiramyae is the matriarch of her line and mate to Asielhrin. The name of Hiram is passed down to all of her descendants.
