Hellfire Wyverns are so named for their foul tempers and fiery visages. Their social structure places all females above all males, due to superior physical characteristics and violent dispositions. Forced subservience of the males causes them to become vicious, petty, antisocial, and passive-aggressive compared to the aggressive and social females. However, orphaned hatchlings raised by foster parents of another species can develop surprisingly even tempers and mellow dispositions, proving that their defining unpleasant nature is, in fact, a learned behavior.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

For a very long time Lucifer was the only Hellfire Wyvern in his clan, and having grown up among other dragons, he has never learned the aggressive behaviour typical for his kind. In fact, he has brought up any Hellfire hatchling that was brought to him to become a more or less polite adult.

Lucifer is actually a well respected and beloved member of the clan, greeting the sun every morning together with the Sunrise dragons, and some believe him to be the best among them all. The fact that Lucifer is strong-headed and fights for his own ideas instead of blindly following orders doesn't reflect negatively on him in a group of dragons, who can just be described as chaos-loving individuals. And although some among the senior members and leaders of the clan might grumble about the lack of discipline in the clan, they honestly wouldn't have it (and Lucifer) any other way.
