Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Even though Tsunami Crest is still a hatchling, he proves time and time again that he is already quite mature for his young age. This is due in part to his admiration of his father, Aquatic Sheen, and the sacred Warrior's Code he follows. Tsunami Crest has his heart set on becoming a great warrior like his father one day, and as a result, he does his best to never do anything that would make his parents ashamed.
