Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has large frills on its head.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Frilly Girl follows her brother Frilly Boy around and joins in the pranks he plays on the other dragons. Quite often she feels his jokes are pretty feeble, but as long as they were his idea, when there is trouble, she looks sweetly innocent and the adults assume she has nothing to do with anything. She likes to comb her frills and decorate them with seaweed, which Frilly Boy thinks is frankly silly, but as he likes having her around, he does make the effort to find her attractive weeds. He draws the line at her dancing class though, and when she's practising, he goes cliff-surfing instead.
