Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Even though the main characteristic of her species is their love for battle, Ravenpetal has risen above that reputation. She makes friends easily, and is outgoing yet polite. That isn't to say she's a pacifist, however; when she or her cave is threatened, Ravenpetal is one of the first to the front line of battle. She is adept at weaving combat spells, hurling them at the enemy like lightning. Despite this, some prudish dragons constantly berate her because of slight inbreeding in her ancestry. Shiningcloud, a Silver, who later became her closest friend and mate, was her most outspoken supporter out of many, and soon the other dragons kept their opinions quiet.
