Waterhorse Dragons received their name due to their horse-like physique and endearing behavior. They are capable of surviving out of water, and when on land their skin secretes a gelatinous goo to retain moisture. However, their large paddle feet are better suited for swimming, and waterhorse dragons tend to move very awkwardly when on land. Waterhorses are very friendly dragons and enjoy playing with humans.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

On Buoyant Wings was another of the first hatchlings. Growing up on land was hard for this born swimmer. Besides the occasional puddles from strong rains, water was not a part of her early life, and so On Buoyant Wings is somewhat stunted in growth and skill. Despite this her disposition is one of optimism and living in the moment. Her constant companion since being hatchlings is Why so Striderous, who balances her personality with his more thoughtful mind and slower pace of life. She can sometimes get a bit hyper when Shrel comes down to the marshy lake they inhabit, and is still playful when the other dragons come down for the occasional drink or bath. Rarely out of the water now, On Buoyant wings manages to provide for herself from the fish stock although Why so Striderous worries that she does not get enough to eat.
