Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Royal Blue dragons are a nocturnal breed who prefer to live high in the mountains near slow-moving water that reflects the night sky. Although quite capable of defending themselves, they are peaceful by nature and will avoid a fight whenever possible.
This dragon loves the still waters of the deep mountain lake over which she lives. After filling her belly, she likes to digest by settling in the mouth of her lair and trying to spot comets reflected in the water from the night sky overhead. She also likes to glide silently over the lake, as low as she can without causing ripples from the air of her passing.
More than once she has startled wildlife coming for an evening drink at her lake. They usually wind up as her inspiration to search for comets again.
