Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Jaanii's old owner abandoned him and Sherepta1 found him lying next to a rock half-dead. Nobody wanted a common hatchling. Jaanii himself always thought that he was a Guardian of Nature. The clan often describes him as a "runt" for being a young and weak Whiptail dragon. He never has interest in the clan and its property and is often on his own. Jaanii's behavior bothered the clan so much they started calling him a "disturbing freak". Therefore, he hunts on his own and eats only small animals such as rabbits and squirrels. The only thing that Jaanii could think of was the story his younger sister Gally told him about weaknesses. "Weakness is a true element that describes a dragon without power. It makes the dragon feel sad and violent toward others. No dragon with weakness ever lived that long. They had no attention or care to help them to survive and no one liked them to they had to make sure that they were in a better place." His sister died of sickness.
