Sunsong Amphipteres are an unusual breed. Due to light interference caused by their magical nature, they don’t seem to be affected by any ambient light source. However, when struck by direct sunlight, they shine a brilliant gold. They are playful and ever in flight; their ethereal and mysterious appearance and the fact that they are usually only seen at a distance have led many to believe they are a symbol of hope and good fortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Dragyn is extremely vain and arrogant. He loves to show off his scales in the sun, bathing his homeland in a brilliant gold and dazzling the hatchlings. He began to resent the moon and night because when they came they robbed him of his gleaming beauty. He lived like this for a while until he met a beautiful Sunset named Coincidental Repetition. She offered something that could never be given to him by the daylight—love. They quickly became mates and had a son. But Dragyn was faced with a problem. Coincidental was asleep during most of the day, but the sun allowed him to show off and shine. Coincidental was vulnerable to predators while she was asleep. Dragyn was torn between his two great loves, but eventually he settled on true love. He stood by Coincidental during the day, so he could spend time with her at night. It was a sacrifice that would change his life, but one he was willing to make.
