Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys running through a nearby pumpkin patch.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This hatchling was forced out of its egg prematurely.

Trick is a happy little hatchling, content to spend her days idling inside the ornate and beautiful Jack o' Lanterns her human commissions for her. However, truth be told Trick's favorite pumpkin has long since rotted completely away. A pumpkin carved with little skill, a Halloween grin carved by the inept but determined hands of a young woman. It was in that silly, ugly, old pumpkin that Trick has her fondest memories, those of a free and fun Halloween spent not making things look pretty and wonderful; but spent eating treats and laughing at the night.
