Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. You find it odd that the hatchling doesn’t move at all during the day, but at night its colors change and it is full of energy.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

While most Nocturnes seek safe places to rest as dawn approaches, Prince Sameth can be found striking odd poses in strange places when the sun rises over the horizon. Other dragons of his species find this alarming, and they are concerned for his safety during the day. Luckily, this quirk in Prince Sameth's behavior is looked upon fondly by other dragons in his territory. They watch over him in the daylight, and have come to enjoy his entertaining positions in random locations.
