Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It occasionally shoots small puffs of smoke from its nose, like it’s trying to breathe fire.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Purpletail thought Wild Eternal Flame was a vicious hatchling till she found Demonic Eternal Flame. The hatchling was so evil and vile it seemed more like a demon. The adults fear this hatchling and avoid it as if it were the plague, most wondering why Purpletail even keeps the poor wretched thing around. Daydream and Magi dragons used sleeping spells it to keep some of its evil contained but eventually the spells' effect lessened on the hatchling and it soon ceased to sleep altogether developing a paranoia that other dragons were out to kill it. Its mind soon broke under the pressure and almost all personality left it. It wandered the darkest areas of the Clan's territory seemingly lifeless. Taluana found the hatchling one night ramming itself into a large rock. She stopped it soothing it with her mental voice. Demonic was calmed and soon fell asleep for the first time in months. After that the hatchling grew attached to Taluana and helps her, almost never leaving her side.
