It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Epic Mustache Jacinto, or Jacinto for short, is a young Purple dragon. Playing the roll of the "matchmaker" in his clan until they can find a Heartseeker, it is his responsibility to set up other single dragons on dates. Using his powerful magic, he can also increase the fertility in dragon couples who want an egg. There's a rumor going around the clan that he gets all of his powers from his mustache, which everyone in the clan loves and respects for some reason. It's true, though, he does get some of his powers, especially the magic of "epicness", from his mustache. A clan legend has it that his mustache alone has experienced more action than a lesser dragon's entire body, and that ancient tribes worshiped it, according to local cave wall paintings. Having such an epic mustache makes it hard to stay humble, but he somehow manages. His mate, Linnea Glitterspark, is a Pink dragon whom he couldn't pair up with anyone because of her abrasive attitude.
