Daydream Dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near Daydream Dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Spun Dorkface was found alone as a hatchling. Somehow she had become separated from her parents and wandered the scroll until she nearly perished of dehydration. When she came across a bush with bright, succulent red berries, she didn't hesitate to gobble them up for nourishment. It was only when the bush groaned and began to move that the young hatchling learned she had stumbled upon some unknown sort of dragon. No one knows whether it was the realization of her accidental cannibalism or whether it was something in said dragon's berries, but the hatchling went mad and has not been right since.

Elf Made A Ridiculous Dorkface, the dragon whom she had unwittingly feasted upon, was ill-equipped to deal with a wee mad hatchling. He didn't know where this interesting new dragon had come from, but he recognized a Dorkface cast to the girl's features. He took her to Freeker By The Speaker Dorkface, an old pink Dorkface who'd never had eggs of her own.
