Shimmer-scale Dragons are a very beautiful breed with small—but highly reflective—scales that shimmer and shine as the dragon moves through water. They don’t have fins or webbed feet, but their long, eel-like bodies allow them to swim quite fast. They were once rumored to carry large pearls in their claws—causing many to seek them out in search of this fabulous treasure. In reality, the “pearl” is of greater value to the dragon, for the fabled treasure is actually an egg carried by a migrating female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A dragon of most noble birth, this kindly female has never used her parentage to hold herself above anyone else. Always quick to help those in need, whether they be poor humans, grizzled old dragons, or injured animals, she'd much rather spend her time helping those around her than be stuck in some boring old political meeting. Indeed, just about the only part of being a noble that she does enjoy are the dances, at which she is quite the talented performer.

When not busy helping the locals or wrestling with politics, she can often be found tucked away in her private library, studying up on an old prophecy that's of great interest to her. Known as the Prophecy of Mirrored Hearts, it warns of a time when the battle between two brothers will unleash an ancient demon upon the earth. Most are quick to dismiss this as mere legend, but the Shimmerscale isn't so sure, especially not when the legend so easily brings to mind a certain black dragon she knows...
