Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Nocturnous is a magic wielder who is unparalleled in his ability to manipulate darkness. His surname is not "Nightbender" for nothing. At his command, shadows form into monsters, or converge into pitch black pools, and thicken to block out the light of the moon and stars. At night he can warp the fabric of reality to open dark portals to strange realms of eternal darkness or twilight. Dark describes everything about him, from his personality, to his pitch black scales, and to his eyes, which somehow manage to be bright with green light and exude darkness at the same time. Dark, however, does not necessarily mean evil; Nocturnous uses his strange powers only for just causes and he never attacks without good reason. Just don't expect him to ever crack a light joke, as his sense of humor is just as dark as his scales.
