Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don’t communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Dark Myst Pygmies are, despite their dark and gloomy appearance, merry creatures that are usually seen in dark swamps playing among tree branches. These small dragons love humidity, as it keeps their skin well-hydrated, and are most happy when it is raining or foggy. They feed off larvae and insects and occasionally hunt for tiny lizards and frogs.
This loyal and cheerful little male once made his home in the garden of a haunted mansion, living a rough life among the weeds and preying upon what little vermin still remained in the area. However, his fate took a change far for the better when a human visitor strolled in one day; saving the girl's life from a vicious adder, he quickly decided to join up with her on her adventure, and together the two solved the mystery of the mansion's haunting and laid a dragon's spirit to rest. Tallowclaw now lives a very cheery life in his owner's home, and splits his time between caring for his lovely mate and children and helping his owner take care of orphaned and homeless dragons.
