Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

An unpleasant and macabre creature, this dragon is often seen as an omen of death by the humans and dragons living within his territory. Emerging only in the darkness of night, he creeps throughout the world like a whisper, dragging corpses, the wounded, and the sickly alike back to his home. Those he brings back alive are devoured, but the bodies he finds already dead are used for a more decorative purpose. Skewered on the branches of withered trees or scattered over rocks, they serve as a most profound warning to intruders, telling them to stay well away from his lair. Even this threat, however, is often not enough to keep away the families of those he's taken alive, brave souls hoping against hope to rescue their loved ones in time--but these efforts never end with anything but more death. In despair, some have begun to look for the services of a true hero, any human or dragon who might put an end to his evil, but only time will tell if such a soul can be found.
