Neotropical Dragons are a breed that originate in rainforests. They are fun-loving and enjoy lounging on tree branches, eating whatever fruit they find. They are also often found sunning themselves on rocks, using their large wings to soak up the rays. In the summer, males compete for mates by showing off their striped wings and gliding in spirals down the tree trunks. It is said that the larger the wings, the more likely the male will attract a suitable mate.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Once upon a time, the one the bananas named Lenore was chasing a crow that had stolen a banana from her and ran into a device that Anti-Madder was building to try and take over the world. The device exploded, permanently and irrevocably destroying Lenore's name within the confines of the grove.

Despite this, Lenore often ventures into the grove to be with Edgar Banana Poe, who lives there. In fact, she seems to enjoy it when Edgar calls her "nameless here forevermore", as has become her primary nickname. She absolutely revels in the confusion of travelers who fail to comprehend how a name can be locally destroyed even though nothing stops anyone from pronouncing the syllables—even in the correct order, consecutively ,with no pause. Yet when she dares them to call her by name, they invariably cannot. Unless she leaves to steal bananas in a different part of the Madder Jungle, she is truly nameless.
