Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Silver dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Male silver dragons hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.

Youssarian is best described a few eggs short of a basket. While it's not enough to pose any sort of danger, he's oddly timid for a silver dragon, and often overreacts to anything. While torment by the oldest two males toughened up Doshi, Youssarian was brought down by it. Although A-chana finally intervened and delivered harsh punishment, it was too late to fix Youssarian's nervous nature. He also tends to have odd habits, and becomes edgy if they're not followed. Still, Youssarian is the father figure where the other males fail, and is affectionately called Uncle Youssy by hatchlings. His personality is oddly charming, too, gaining him the approval of the other females. His looks may be a contributing factor in this, however.
