Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Cheese dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must 'live' in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.
The dragon Tarian Smells Like Cheese has a sad tale, though it was his own fault. Once a proud Knight of a land called Karchan, he fought evil-doer's day in and day out. However, it was when he fell for a beautiful Squire named Yasmine that his luck changed. While courting her, it was soon found out that he was courting another, the Knight of Justice caught in a web of lies that ultimately led to unfortunate consequence's of his actions.
Heartbroken and tearful, Yasmine spoke to the witch Korinase, who was kind-hearted with her own twisted form of justice. While Yasmine tried to sleep off her heartbreak, Korinase concocted a potion for the great Knight Tarian, and slipped it into his water flask. She took the very essence of Yasmine's joke 'Tarian smells like cheese' and used it against him. When he drank of the potion the next morning, he was turned into a cheese dragon, never again to stray from a woman as he would never again have a woman.
