Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Silver dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Male silver dragons hunt and eat meat. While not as beautiful or radiant as females, silver males possess better physical attributes, such as strength.
With his softly undulating glow, Sitael seems to be a calming influence on most of the other dragons in his colony, and is liked by almost all. Shy hatchlings in the colony have no fear of him, and even the cave's principal Guardian, Valiturus, rarely looks at him with any suspicion. He is often found sleeping at the very centre of the cave, with the other dragons radiating around him, bathed in his light. Although he cannot fly, Sitael - named after an angel - is a mighty hunter and is bold in the face of danger.
