Its fins and tail have gotten bigger, and you've moved it to a larger body of water to swim in.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. Their scales don't grow in until right before they mature, and they have almost no strength. Once a hatchling's wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are usually left alone by their mother and begin to hunt and survive on their own.

Santayana Goodbye, who has been enchanted to remain a hatchling for life, is one of the three dragons to never leave the dragon-made pond in the cave he inhabits.  The other two are Goodbye's father, Christian, and his older sister, Studebaker.  Goodbye enjoys playing with his sister, but since she is an adult, there is a gap between the two.  Goodbye tries to make friends with the other hatchlings, but his gruff nature inherited from his father makes it difficult.
