Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Silver dragons are arguably one of the most beautiful types of dragons. They live in high altitude habitats such as mountains. Silver females, like most female dragons, eat meat only when a male dragon brings it to them. They possess an almost magical aura that lights up any place they are in, and are looked upon with awe by humans and animals alike.

Platea is the youngest of the silver dragons in the Community, this gives her the unique position of being completely spoiled by not only the other silvers but all the other dragons as well. Each of them have contributed to her education, so she is well schooled in magic, fighting (though she will not use it save in self-defense), research, herbalism, healing and her personal favorite - cooking. Perhaps cooking seems an unusual talent for a dragon; however her close friend Aster Il'bearni has introduced her to the desert dwelling Kimthu, and cooks for them. She uses her telekinesis to move objects that would otherwise be too small for her to hold, and delights everyone with her wonderful cuisine. Platea's name comes from the Spanish word for silver - "Plateado".
