Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Sunset dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.
Nishiakari Yuushi's roughly translates to "twilight wanderer." He has given in to his mate's demands that they settle in the humans' resort area, but when the sun is fully set he indulges his desire to explore and travel, either with or without his mate. The first pink hues on the horizon usually find him winging home from some adventure, sometimes bearing fantastic treasures he discovered in his wanderings. Occasionally he and Sayo will disappear for days at a time and return adorned in jewels and trinkets from distant lands. It is widely whispered at such times that they enjoy dancing and the adoration it brings so much that they leave to find a new audience for a time.
