Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

White dragons are pacifists and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can't bring back the dead. They only eat plants and never kill living things.

Michiri is Lystr's 5th dragon, hatching just after Roxven. Lystr almost never rides her; instead Mich flies behind whoever Lystr's riding just in case something happens. Because she is a pacifist she hates all forms of fighting, especially the territory battles Velwing has had in order to keep his leadership of the group. But, because Lystr is one of Dracademy's top students, he is forced to participate in the air wars with the Slayers. Mich will fly into battle with him, but only to heal wounds should he or his mount fall.

Michiri is mated with Velwing and they have two children together; a skywing daughter named Lirin and a white hatchling named Milky Galaxy. She hopes that the white will also grow up to be as healthy as her sister, Lirin, but as both dragons went to different Tamers, Michiri has no way of knowing. Now she simply wishes to concentrate on making a family with Vel.
