Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Magi dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won't kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Lorithelm has no idea what's going on. Seriously. He has very little common sense and is prone to spacing out, and it's really hard to keep him on task. Lori, while he may have the attention span of a goldfish, is actually surprisingly smart--not that you'll ever get him to do anything with his intelligence. Lorithelm often spends his time dreaming up fantastic stories or working on the most pointless spells ever made, and one of his most recent 'successes' is a spell that turns things pink. While this may be useful for Valentine's Day celebrations and the like, it is not in the least bit funny when Kaerlyth wakes up pink because Lorithelm accidentally cast the spell. (Defrentius and Luce sure get a kick out of it, though.) If he actually started paying attention to things, Lorithelm might actually become a decent Magi.

However, this will never happen, so the world will just have to put up with him and his obnoxious 'turn things pink' spell for the next few dozen centuries or so.
