Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

White dragons are pacifists and specialize in extremely strong healing magic. The only limit of this magic is that it can't bring back the dead. They only eat plants and never kill living things.

Like most Whites, Little Auk is a skilled healer who cares for most living things, even to the point of flying over grass rather than stepping on it. Unfortunately, shes also one of the most disconnected dragons to ever break shell, and sees the world far differently than anyone else could ever dream of. She has tried to convince vampires to go vegan, brought home a stray kitten to give to the incredibly carnivorous and irresponsible Jacamar as a pet, and is convinced that dinosaurs are really dragons who have misplaced their wings (thus requiring her to wander off searching for them and turn up eight months later being chased by the nice shiny-wearing acupuncturists who love screaming tag.). Oddly enough, Jacamars kitten is still quite healthy, and there is a vegan vampire currently spreading the news of his conversion. Her fellow White and adopted sister, Kagu, keeps an eye on her and douses whatever particularly stupid drakes attempt to seduce her adorably oblivious sibling.
