Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.
Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.
Geode dragons are closely related to Stone dragons. They are covered in a hard stone-like material as well as beautiful crystal. Their wings are entirely useless for flight, but they help attract mates. The dragons with the most brilliant and colorful crystals are more likely to mate.
Kuthani is definitly the "strong and silent" type. He doesn't say very much, but when he does its often something completly unrelated to the conversation. Since he is so quiet, and can stand for hours as still as a rock, he has picked up a hobby of posing as a dragon statue to confuse passing humans. When they walk by the "sculpture", he will sneeze or make some other small noise as soon as they aren't looking, making them spin around to look again and find only the "statue". Its always hard for him to keep from laughing during this, and when he does laugh, the deep rumbling usually sends the already suspicious humans runnning for the hills.
