Aww... It's a cute baby dragon. It seems to bear some semblance to a horse.
And look! It's grown its wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. Their scales don't grow in until right before they mature, and they have almost no strength. Once a hatchling's wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are usually left alone by their mother and begin to hunt and survive on their own.
Kamoku Kouma's name means "shy pony." He was abandoned as an egg and nearly trampled by Gorogoro who just barely saw the egg in time to leap over it. Goro later brought the unhatched baby dragon to the cave and turned it over to Shunsoku. Kouma lacks his mentors' proud and showy behavior, and has been teased that his self-effacing behavior is more like a mint dragon. He is quite content to hang in the company of more confident young dragons, and his otherwise likeable personality means that he never lacks for personal champions.
