Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Feisty and energetic, whiptail dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Kakpatsu Kodai's name roughly means "active hyperbole."  No one is really sure where he got this name, or if it is one that he claimed for himself.  At any rate, Kodai is a proper whiptail who is just a shade more relaxed than Iksanni.  He has a casual relationship with the other whiptail, the two of them enjoying racing almost as much as they enjoy other facets of draconic relationships.  The pair always start the day with a short race to the beach, where they bathe in the waves and then roll in the sand before flying off to hunt.
