Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Feisty and energetic, whiptail dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Iksanni's name means "at top speed," and is an indicator of how she lives her life.  It has been joked that she has two speeds: super fast and sleeping.  Even her sleep times seem more like short cat naps, as she is soon off and running again.  She enjoys racing on foot with the land-based dragons even more than she enjoys racing the airbone ones in flight.  Sometimes the other dragons will eject her from the cave at night since her constant need to be in motion tends to disrupt their sleep.
