Aww... It's a cute baby dragon. It enjoys gathering pebbles and other small rocks and putting them in a pile.
And look! It's grown its wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. Their scales don't grow in until right before they mature, and they have almost no strength. Once a hatchling's wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are usually left alone by their mother and begin to hunt and survive on their own.

Earthspike is the son of Myroku and Sebina.  He is so named because from a very young age, he has been creating stalagmite spikes from the ground.  He is small for his breed, so sometimes he uses this ability to create ladders of a sort.  He will start the spike, and then grab a hold of it as it's growing and ride it up as high as he needs to go.  He has used this technique to escape bullying, sometimes riding high up the cave wall and hiding out in one of Tenchi's alcoves.  He has a strong affinity for the black hatchling Xenith, as her sense of justice meshes well with his need to avoid being bullied by the others.  She has come to his rescue on more than one occasion, and has earned herself a rather rapt admirer in doing so.
