Aww... It's a cute baby dragon. It occasionally shoots small puffs of smoke from its nose, like it's trying to breathe fire.
And look! It's grown its wings! It must be close to maturing.
Young dragons are relatively defenseless. Their scales don't grow in until right before they mature, and they have almost no strength. Once a hatchling's wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are usually left alone by their mother and begin to hunt and survive on their own.
If the hatchlings had a leader, Calcifurr would be it. Although she is not descended from the red dragon pair -- Magritt and Flamerous -- she has learned much from them. She can manage a weak charm spell, which causes other hatchlings to become enthralled with her stories, which are largely pieced together from tales she heard her adoptive parents tell. However, she has the pint-sized power to back up her bluff, and has taken the best shots of her cavemates while giving back with equal ferocity. The only hatchlings she avoids are those who can outsmart her, as intellect is not her strong suit, and she refuses to admit any weakness. Faults aside, she will be a force to be reckoned with someday.
