Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Gray dragons are the masters of the skies. They are excellent fliers and land only to rest and eat. In addition, they have full control of the weather. They are very hot-tempered and easily angered. They will attack any human that bothers them, conjuring strong winds and dangerous lightning.

Arashi Kumori. His name roughly translated means storm cloud. He hatched out during a thunderstorm and tried to escape the cave to play in the rain. He sprouted wings on a cloudy day and from that day on he was most often seen frolicking in the sky on cloudy days. Seldom seen on sunny days, the other dragons in the clan assume he hides on those days. He is a helpful sort. He calls rain down for the clan whenever drought threatens to dry out Suichuu Ikijigoku's lake. Whenever he sees anyone other than the clan's human pet provider or its members approach the cave, he stirs up such a wind that they can't find the cave for the dust. He considers himself the clans guardian, but the others don't. They think of him as an aloof blow hard, and wish he'd stop blowing dirt around because it gets in their eyes. Nevertheless he is a valuable member of the clan, and always protects them from harm.
