Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Hatchlings spend a relatively long period of time as hatchlings, from 100 to 200 years, before they mature. Adolescence is usually marked by a hatchling's wings growing in, but not all breeds of dragons grow wings. Baby dragons all look very similar, but once they hit adolescence, they change very fast, they mature to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

When water dragons mature, they lose their legs and the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They usually stay in the same lake for their entire life, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Aquarissa is a water dragon. Sandrilyona picked up her egg, thinking it was some kind of weird pebble. It is quite hard for Aquarissa to serve the Clan as she can't leave water. But she found a way to follow her Mistress - with the help of underground streams and lakes. Sometimes she is seen in seas and oceans of different worlds, where Sandrilyona travels. Sandrilyona's magic helps her to move around. After all - Aquarissa is the only water dragon in the clan. She is quite cold and enjoys loneliness. She once had a short affair with the white dragon Mithrillius, which ended almost constantly and resulted in some nameless child she left on some seashore. She decided for herself that her only and true love was The Sea.
