Dragons are creatures with nearly unlimited life spans. They can survive for long periods of time, and no one has found a dragon that has died of old age. Adolescence is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling's wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Once they hit adolescence, hatchlings change quickly, maturing to their full forms in only 2 years.

Dragons don't communicate with each other verbally, but they will growl to scare off predators and frighten prey. Young dragons will emit an extremely high-pitched squeal when they are frightened. To communicate, they use telepathy with each other and to speak to other creatures.

Sunset dragons are closely related to sunrise dragons. However, their behaviors differ greatly. Sunset dragons generally live alone or in small packs. They are more active in the evening, hunting and performing all of their daily tasks as the sun sets.

Annun'Loth, or Sunset Blossom, is both very different and very similar to Annun'Naur. They are not bound by blood, but are both born of the dying sun and that forges connections deeper than kinship. She shares his rage against the dying of the light, his need for a swansong before night sets in. But she does not share his restless energy that borders on desperation. Her rage is internal and manifests itself in a willingness to throw herself into every situation as if it were her last. She is carpe diem personified, not angry but constantly on the edge of euphoria, living for every last drop of every single moment.
