Red Dragons are similar to typical story book dragons. They shoot flames, can fly, etc. However, they aren’t evil creatures as depicted in myths and won’t go around raiding castles, killing knights, or kidnapping princesses. They live in a variety of habitats, from forests to coastlines to abandoned castles, usually in warm climates, and eat whatever living creatures they can find.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Smaugclaw is an especially wicked dragon. He lives under the Lonely Mountain, which according to the ancient legends, used to be populated by dwarves. Hardly anyone in the nearby village of Lake-Town believes those old myths, but they do believe in dragons, for good reason. This dragon occasionally terrorizes the village, but he spends most of his time guarding his vast horde of treasure, which is said to not only contain human artifacts, but some of those that supposedly belonged to the mythical elves and dwarves. His armored scales are like ten-fold shields, his teeth are swords, his claws spears, the shock of his tail is a thunderbolt, his wings are as a hurricane, and his breath is death. In addition it is said that he wears a diamond-encrusted waistcoat to protect himself from harm. Any would-be thieves should beware, but it is also rumored that he has one vulnerable spot, a jewel-free patch just over his heart. If tales are to be believed, then that would be the place to strike.
