Avatars of Change are unpredictable, exuberant dragons whose unique connection to magic has saturated their entire bodies. It is said that possessing one of their iridescent scales can change one’s fate, and many have sought the favor of these dragons hoping to receive a scale as a gift.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Heaven is a lot friendlier than Gif, the clan's resident female Avatar of Change. His mother's innocence and his father's shyness have left him without any shred of arrogance or even any idea of how special and powerful he actually is. Yes, his moods and interests change on a whim but he never gets aggressive or unfriendly. And the only time he ever cares about being an Avatar of Change at all is when the curse hits his father once again. Then Heaven is terribly happy to be what he is because he can heal his father through a simple kiss.
