Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

On the top of a hill, far, far away from any human habitation, there lies an abandoned shrine guarded by three dark green dragons and inhabited by the vampire Eskora.  None can remember how Eskora came to dwell there—whether the shrine was built to honor her or whether she has merely taken it for her own—and Eskora herself refuses to say.  Eskora has a reputation for wisdom, and many have sought her out, though those that survive her guards find her advice vague and misleading, and never really helpful until after the fact.  Some more cynical dragons believe that Eskora has spread rumors of her wisdom in order to guarantee a steady supply of food without the need to hunt, and that she's no more special than any other vampire dragon, but enough of her prophecies come true that it seems that she has at least some oracular gift.
