Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

What the Dormouse Said is a very sleepy hatchling. He likes to sing and tell silly stories, but while he gets upset when interrupted, he always falls asleep before he finishes!

His closest friend is Raven Like a Writing Desk. Raven never minds that Dormouse never finishes, and Dormouse never minds that Raven's riddles make no sense. Neither dragon is as strong or aggressive as the other black hatchlings, and the pair can often be seen wandering around in the evening, entertaining each other and anyone else who will listen.
