The egg faded away completely; in its place there’s a cute baby dragon. It doesn’t seem to have much substance, though.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Pranci loves to slip out of her parents' lair during the night, slipping through the smallest crack in the back wall of her own corner of the cave, using her ability to become intangible. She spends hours every night exploring the lands of the clan in her ghostly form always hiding from the nocturnal adults so she won't be found out. Her parents sometimes wonder why Pranci is always sleeping in so late, but believe it's simply due to growing hatchies needing more sleep.
