Magi Dragons are, as their name suggests, primarily magic users. They rarely use physical forms of attack. They eat anything they can kill, which is almost everything. They won’t kill unprovoked except when hunting, although they may kill humans if in danger. Their strong magic makes them one of the most feared breeds of dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Despite being the youngest dragon ever to join the crew of one of the traveling weyrs, Lakiui saved the day on more than one occasion. He supposedly managed the seemingly impossible more than once, leading some to sarcastically wonder why Starwander Weyr bothered with a full crew at all, while others compared him with the infamously flawless dragon hero Garistu. Lakiui eventually left Starwander Weyr to pursue his studies, but soon grew depressed when nothing could measure up to solving world-shaking dilemmas on a weekly basis. He finally found his niche doing some very special extracurricular work with a most unusual dragon. Lakiui has an unfortunate reputation for arrogance, but most of this stemmed from having to compensate for being by far the youngest of the crew on a very prestigious traveling weyr. He's mellowed as he's grown older, maturing into a very respectful and insightful dragon (who can even poke fun at his earlier exploits).
