Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This little dragon was the first ever Forever Young enchanted by the Prophet of Twilight. At first, she feared casting such magic would render the young one depressed and longing for an adulthood that would never come, but little Ilquips quickly eased her fears. He became as fierce as any adult of his kind and seemed to revel in the fact that his small stature enabled him to go where bigger dragons could not.

Among the other Forever Youngs, Ilquips views himself as the most powerful and the bravest, making him the leader. So far, the others have not questioned him, though no one knows if it is because they fear Ilquips or if they just don't want to hear him complain about following the lead of someone else.
